Research seminar in June: How pension reforms affect retirement and retirement intentions

In our seminar in June, we will take a closer look at the effects of pension reforms. What carrots and sticks have deferred retirement in Finland and the United Kingdom? Which solutions have proved inefficient? The speakers include, among others, Ricky Kanabar (University of Bath).

In the past decades, many countries have implemented pension reforms in order to defer retirement and extend working lives. The effect of reforms is usually based on carrot-and-stick policies, but which means work and why?

In the June seminar, we will hear fresh research results on the incentive effects of pension reforms in Finland and Great Britain.

Assistant Professor Ricky Kanabar of the University of Bath will talk about how the retirement intentions of the British people changed when the retirement age was raised. The seminar also includes a presentation of the results of an extensive follow-up study on  the retirement intentions of Finns.
