The Impact of Social and Health Care Services on Retirees’ Income

Using register data, this study analyses how retirees used social and health care services in Finland in 2015. Public services support individuals’ wellbeing in many ways. The services can be viewed as part of the public income redistribution system. On the other hand, customer fees relating to these services and other health care expenses can become a financial burden in particular for sick, low-income people.
