Forecasts 

We draw up short and long-term forecasts of future pension expenditure, pension funds and pension contributions. The most wide-ranging projections concern the entire earnings-related pension scheme, but usually we focus on private-sector pensions and their financing.

The short-term forecast is drawn up approximately four times a year for five years ahead. In addition, we annually draw up a more detailed review of the estimated pension expenditure for each of those five years. The long-term projection offers estimates that cover up to 60-70 years. Furthermore, the long-term projection model is used in the estimates made by employers in their IFRS accounting. 

The pension expenditure and contribution calculations of the Finnish Centre for Pensions are based on the short-term economic forecast intended for internal use within the earnings-related pension scheme.
